Her priestesses received the name of ‘Melissa’ (‘bee’) and in addition, priestesses worshipping Artemis and Demeter were called ‘Bees’. The lion symbolism is also important here because it has been used to both ‘enslave’ humanity as much as it is now been used to ‘set free.
